The BA Center for Islamic Civilization Studies is organizing a lecture entitled “Reviving Islamic Architectural Heritage: Bayt Yakan as a Model”, delivered by Prof. Alaa El-Habashi, Professor of Architecture and Heritage Conservation, and Head of the Architectural Engineering Department at the Faculty of Engineering, Menoufia University. It is held on Thursday, 16 March 2023, from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm, in the Auditorium Hall, BA Main Entrance.
The lecture tackles the approach and vision of Dr. Alaa El-Habashi in reviving the heritage of Islamic architecture through his pioneering experience with regard to the rehabilitation and restoration of the historical house of Beit Yakan on Souq El-Selah Street, El-Darb El-Ahmar district. The house was originally built in the seventeenth century, and was inhabited by aristocratic families who trace their ancestry back to the dynasty of Muhammad Ali Pasha.
