The BA Alexandria and Mediterranean Research Center (Alex Med) has published a book entitled Alexandria: A City & A Legend, with a foreword by Dr. Ahmed Abdullah Zayed, Director of the BA, and authored by a select group of professors and experts specializing in Alexandrian and historical studies.

The book provides a comprehensive answer to the central question: "Why is Alexandria a legendary city?" It highlights the unique cultural heritage of Alexandria and emphasizes its role as a cosmopolitan city that has embraced multiple cultures throughout the ages and contributed to the development of knowledge, architecture, religion, and the arts.

The book consists of fourteen articles, divided into six parts, covering the different historical stages of the city from its establishment to the modern era. It begins with the founding of Alexandria by Alexander the Great and proceeds to its history in the Ptolemaic era and the subsequent eras (Roman, Byzantine, etc.).

It also discusses the Alexandrian philosophical school and highlights the life of the Alexandrian philosopher, astronomer, and mathematician Hypatia as one of the most prominent figures of this school.

It concludes its historical journey by observing the features of modern Alexandria and its transformations over time.

This publication is a comprehensive scientific encyclopedia of the history of the city of Alexandria, reflecting its status as a global cultural symbol whose influence is still present today.
