The Annual Shakespeare Conference at the BA

Alexandria—The BA is organizing its Annual Shakespeare Conference on Thursday, 23 April 2009. Entitled “Shakespeare: the Legend that Lives on”, the one-day Conference will feature lectures by renewed professors from Egypt and abroad.

This year’s keynote speech will be delivered by Professor Terence Eagleton who will discuss “Shakespeare and Communism”. The Conference also celebrates 400 years since the first publication of Shakespeare’s sonnets with Professors Azza Kararah and Esmat Waly from the University of Alexandria who will read some sonnets in English and Arabic. Professor Mustafa Riad from Ain Shams University will give a lecture entitled “The Brush and the Palette: Art of Painting and Shakespearean Criticism".

The Conference will take place at the BACC Lectures Hall at 11:00 am, and is open for public.
