The BA Director Receives the Prime Minister of Greece

Dr. Moustafa Elfeki, Director of the Bibliotheca Alexandrina received His Excellency Mr. Kyriakos Mitsotakis, the Prime Minister of Greece on Monday, 21 June 2021, as part of the His Excellecy’s visit to Egypt to explore means of cooperation between both countries, and discuss the latest regional and international developments of mutual concern.
Dr. Elfeki was pleased to welcome the Greek Prime Minister at the BA, especially after his state visit to Egypt and his meeting with the Egyptian President in Cairo, noting that H.E. the Prime Minister visited the BA Antiquities Museum and signed the VIP Guest Book. He also toured the BA exhibitions, and was introduced to the services offered by the Library to its patrons.
H.E. Mr. Mitsotakis was highly impressed with the architecture of the BA building, as well as its design that combines elements of modernity and antiquity. He was also eager to learn more about the BA collections of books and periodicals, together with the digitization projects established by the Library to enhance its information services for users and researchers.
Moreover, Dr. Elfeki granted H.E. Mr. Mitsotakis the Shield of the Bibliotheca Alexandria, and a number of BA publications, including The Photographic Memory of Alexandria, The Bibliotheca Alexandrina Antiquities Museum, and Greeks and the Making of Modern Egypt. H.E. the Greek Prime Minister, in turn, donated the Greek version of the book Minoan and Greek Civilization to the BA.
