Artist’s Book Exhibition for the BA Collection

Alexandria — The BA Arts Center, in cooperation with the Plastic Arts Sector at the Ministry of Culture, have organized the first exhibition for the BA collections of the Artist’s Book in Cairo. Maestro Sherif Mohie El-Din, Director of the BA Arts Center and Mohsen Shaalan, Head of the Plastic Arts Sector at the Ministry of Culture will inaugurate the exhibition in Al-Jazeera Arts Center in Zamalek on Saturday, 10 June at 20:30 hrs.
The first exhibition was held in 2002 entitled Imagining the Book, where imagining the future of the book has become a rich source of creativity for contemporary artists. Maestro Sherif Mohie El-Din decided to establish two biennales: the Bibliotheca Alexandrina International Biennale for the Artist’s Book and the Bibliotheca Alexandrina International Biennale for Imagining the Book to be held alternately. The first session of the Bibliotheca Alexandrina International Biennale for the Artist’s Book was inaugurated on 22 April 2004 and the second session was in April 2006.
It is worth mentioning that the BA will establish an international gallery for this new art, under the auspices of Dr. Ismail Serageldin, Director of the Library of Alexandria, and with the support of Maestro Sherif Mohie El-Din.
