The Arts Center Starts the New Year with Omar Khairat Concerts and Ahmed Kamal’s Acting Workshop

The BA Arts Center organizes a number of artistic events as part of its January Program. These events start on Sunday, 6 January 2019, with The Originals, a film directed by Marwan Hamed. On Saturday, 12 January, the program hosts the Metropolitan Opera (Live in HD): Adriana Lecouvreur by Francesco Cilea.

The program includes film screenings and theatrical performances such as the Spanish film Mondays in the Sun, directed by Fernando León de Aranoa (Sunday, 13 January), and the theatrical performance The Just, written by Albert Camus and directed by Mohamed Atta (Wednesday, 16 January). On Sunday, 20 January, a screening of the film Nawara takes place, followed by a discussion with the director Hala Khalil. Actor Ahmed Kamal holds a cinematic workshop entitled “Acting for the Screen” from 20 to 24 January, while Poet Amr Hassan gives a poetry recital on Thursday, 24 January.

A concert by the BA Chamber Orchestra takes place on Saturday, 26 January, entitled “Classical Master Composers” by Cello Soloist Ahmed Fouad and Conductor Ahmed Farag. On the same day, a standup comedy show is presented by Mohamed Helmy. On Sunday, 27 January, a screening of the Jordanian film My Love Awaits Me by the Sea takes place. It is directed by Mais Darwazah who participates in a discussion after the screening.

As part of the Arts Center’s interest in children and youth, the Arts School launches its 2019 Mid-Year Program from Sunday, 27 January to Thursday, 7 February.

The public will be able to attend two concerts by Omar Khairat, on 28 and 29 January, accompanied by the BA Chamber Orchestra, while on Wednesday, 30 January, a performance titled Mass and Vacuum by the theatrical company El haya from Bany Mazar will take place. The show is written by Eslam Farghaly and directed by Hamdy Tolba.

January Program ends with a concert by Aqsa El-Wasat Band, on Thursday, 31 January. The band presents a combination of different musical backgrounds.
