The Bibliotheca Alexandrina organized a panel discussion entitled “Prince Talal and Sustainable Development” under the slogan “Sustainable Development: An Institutional Approach,” as part of the events of the sixth edition of the exhibition "Talal: A History Read by Generations," in the presence of HRH Prince Abdulaziz bin Talal bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, President of the Arab Council for Childhood and Development, and a number of prominent intellectual, diplomatic, and cultural figures.

In his speech, Dr. Ahmed Zayed, Director of the Bibliotheca Alexandrina, emphasized that the session was of particular importance as it raised a fundamental issue in the development process, namely the need to transform the development discourse into a sustainable and influential institutional practice. He explained that the late Prince Talal Bin Abdulaziz did not merely propose development ideas, but also established effective institutions in the fields of education, poverty alleviation, civil society support, and cooperation with international organizations such as UNICEF and UNESCO, making his vision a practical model to be emulated.

The session was organized to coincide with the International Day of Charity, as part of the “Talal: A History Read for Generations” exhibition, which was launched in 2020 and held in Riyadh, Kuwait, and Cairo, and most recently at the Bibliotheca Alexandrina. The exhibition consists of 11 pavilions documenting Prince Talal's developmental and cultural journey, featuring personal belongings, rare documents, official correspondence, publications, and documentary films.
