Prof. Ahmed Zayed, Director of the Bibliotheca Alexandrina, and Prof. Nermine Khedr, President of the Arab Open University in Egypt, signed a cooperation agreement between the Library and the University in the presence of HRH Prince Abdulaziz bin Talal bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Arab Open University; Prof. Mohammed Al-Zakari, President of the Arab Open University in the Arab world, and Prof. Moufid Shehab, former Minister of Higher Education and member of the Board of Trustees of the Arab Open University.

Prof. Ahmed Zayed said that this protocol represents the second cooperation with the institutions of the late Prince Talal bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, following the signing of a cooperation agreement between the Library and the Arab Council for Childhood and Development. He stressed that this cooperation has profound implications as the goals achieved by these various institutions converge and align with those pursued by the Bibliotheca Alexandrina, which focuses on issues related to children, women, sustainable development, scientific research, and education. He also referred to the fact that the Library hosts a large number of Arab and African students and adopts several programs that offer university students research services that are not available at Egyptian universities.

For her part, Prof. Nermine Khedr emphasized that this protocol reflects a deep belief in the value and role of knowledge and cultural institutions in serving humanity and society. She noted that since its establishment, the Arab Open University has been guided by the pioneering humanitarian vision of its founder, HRH Prince Talal bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, with the aim of providing world-class higher education and removing barriers for Arab youth to help them benefit from the latest scientific and knowledge developments.

She said that the cooperation with the Bibliotheca Alexandrina represents a confident step towards a genuine scientific and cultural partnership that combines the University's academic expertise with the Library's priceless treasures of knowledge and research sources.
