Reading Shakespeare Conference at the BA

The BA will organize on Monday, 30April 2007, a literary conference entitled "Reading Shakespeare". The one day conference will focus on the infinite readings and interpretations of Shakespeare's works through different mediums.
Dr. Azza El-Kholy, Professor of English Literature, Alexandria University, stated that the a group of specialists in Shakespeare literature will participate in the conference. Prof. Ann Thompson, Dean of the School of Humanities, King's College, London, will be talking about her experience with issuing a new edition of Shakespeare's works. Mr. Paul Smith, Director of the British Council in Egypt, will be discussing Shakespeare onstage. Prof. Amira Nowaira, University of Alexandria, will explore the interpretation of Hamlet on screen.
William Shakespeare (born 26 April 1564 – died 23 April 1616) was an English poet and playwright widely regarded as the greatest writer of the English language, and as the world's preeminent dramatist. Shakespeare's works have been translated into every major living language, and his plays are continually performed all around the world. Shakespeare is the most quoted writer in the literature and history of the English-speaking world, and many of his quotations and neologisms have passed into everyday usage in English and other languages.
The conference will start at 9:00 hrs. at the Lectures Hall, BA Conference Center.
