Gamal El-Banna Speaks on Freedom and Islam at the BA

Alexandria—The BA Dialogue Forum will hold on Saturday, 26 May 2007, a seminar on "Freedom and Islam" by Gamal El-Banna, Islamic Thinker, chaired by Gaber Asfour, Secretary General, Supreme Council for Culture and Dr. Kadry Hefny.
Gamal El-Banna will speak on the freedom of belief in Islam, the value of justice in the European and Islamic thinking, and the origins of the Islamic State. He will also discuss several issues on the Egyptian, Arab, and international arena.
Gamal El-Banna was born in 1920. His father was late Sheikh Ahmed Abdel Rahman El-Banna, the author of al-Fath al-Rabbanī fī Tasnif wa Šarh Musnad al-Imām Ahmad Al-Šībānī Encyclopedia in 24 volumes. His brother is Imam Hassan E-Bana, founder of the Muslim Brotherhood. Gamal El-Bana worked as a lecturer in the Labor University as well as other specialized institutes from 1963 to 1993. He founded the Egyptian Association for Prisoners and their Families in 1953. He also founded the International Islamic Union for Labor in Geneva in 1981.
