Innovation and Tradition in Islamic Architecture: Best Book in Architecture in the Arab World

Alexandria— Al-Benaa Al-Arabi Magazine (Arab Construction), specialized in architecture, urban planning, interior design, and civil engineering, edited by Youssef Khaled, Editor in Chief, designated “Innovation and Tradition in Islamic Architecture”, by Dr. Ismail Serageldin, as the best book in architecture in the Arab World for the year 2007 from among 10 other books.

“Innovation and Tradition in Islamic Architecture” book is the first of a series of books on architectural studies addressing the Aga Khan Award for Architecture. The Book, 627 pages, is written by Dr. Ismail Serageldin, Director of the Library of Alexandria, reviewing award winning projects throughout nine cycles, over twenty-five years of the Aga Khan award.

It is worth mentioning that the list of 10 best books in architecture that were nominated by Al-Benaa Al-Arabi Magazine included: "Amarah Masculine" by Shaker Laibi; "In the Causal Controversial Architecture" by Refah Al-Gadregi; "The Architectural Development of Jerusalem” by Yehia Wazery, and "The Corridor of Development and Construction" by Dr. Farouk Al-Baz.
