President of Cyprus Visits the BA

Alexandria— His Excellency Mr. Demetris Christofias, President of the Republic of Cyprus, accompanied by a high profile delegation including Ministers of Finance and Industry, visited the BA, a landmark not only in Egypt, but in the whole region, on Thursday, 9 April 2009.
Mr. Christofias was received by Dr. Ismail Serageldin, Director of the Library of Alexandria, and went on a tour of the Library’s projects and services, in addition to its main facilities, such as the Manuscripts Museum, Antiquities Museum, Sadat Museum, Internet Archive, Culturama Show, and the “Impressions of Alexandria” Exhibition (the Awad Collection).
Mr. Christofias praised the Library, adding that the BA’s achievements in such a short period of time is a great success to its Staff and Director.
