Celebrating the Centennial of Naguib Mahfouz

The BA holds different events during the month of December 2011 celebrating the centennial of the birth of Nobel Laureate Naguib Mahfouz (1911-2011).
 

The Arts Center Cinema Program screens from Sunday 11 to Thursday 15 December 2011 films about Mahfouz and films based on his novels, varying between documentaries and feature films from Egypt and Mexico.
 

The premiere of the third round of the Plaza films is held on 26 December 2011, based on Mahfouz last book Ahlam Fatrat El-Naqaha (Dreams of the Rehabilitation Period).
 

On Saturday, 11 December 2011, “Rediscovering Naguib Mahfouz” ceremony is launched and will continue until end of the month at the Cairo-based El-Sennary House. It includes several cultural seminars on the life and works of Naguib Mahfouz .
 

The Ceremony also features the most important films based on Mahfouz’s novels, followed by discussions and an Exhibition displaying different photos of Naguib Mahfouz and posters of his films.
 

On the fringe lines of “Rediscovering Naguib Mahfouz” event, an Exhibition will be held for Dr. Naguib Mahfouz, the pioneer gynecologist who helped deliver the young Mahfouz and thus was named after him.
